HollyFrontier Refining & Marketing BASE STOCKS
The Base Oils Of Choice For TRANSPORTATION Applications
Long recognized as one of the world’s largest manufacturers of Bright Stock, our Tulsa refining operations also produce one of America’s broadest ranges of high quality base stocks. In addition, our base oils have an outstanding quality component. They are refined from Oklahoma and Texas sweet crudes with characteristics making them the most desirable for lubricant production. We refine this crude into a Group l+ grade that makes them ideal for the manufacture of top-drawer lubricants for Transportation Applications. Not only are our characteristics first-rate, but, you can be assured of a constant source of supply. Sitting as we are atop or adjacent to a constant source of crude, plus having a storage capacity of over 1 million barrels, you are assured not only of uninterrupted supply, but, of consistent specs so vital to your operation.

These characteristics will help you compound outstanding lubricants:
- Low volatility
- Low sulfur
- High oxidative stability
- Low wax
- Good low temperature properties
Our Group l+ Base Oils are Unique
Consistently on-spec, they have the highest saturate levels of Group l oils, and low volatility as measured by NOACK. Couple that with their relatively low sulfur content and you have the potential to compound your finished lubricants at lower cost than by using other Group or Group ll oils for the same purpose.
Knowing that saturate content is a key driver of lubricant quality, we only produce base stocks with a precise, optimum saturate range. While Group l base stocks typically range from 69-89% saturate levels, our Group l+ base stocks are produced exclusively between 85-89% saturates. It’s a consistency and quality you can count on.
The desirable characteristics of our base oils make them ideal candidates for blending and compounding your heavy duty lubricants for:
